Connecticut man kills homeless man with hatchet, eats part of him

Man Arrested in Lynn Haven on Charges of Killing, Eating Homeless Man

LYNN HAVEN — A man wanted by Connecticut police on charges that he killed and ate a homeless man was arrested Tuesday evening in Lynn Haven.

Lynn Haven police said Tyree Lincoln Smith, 34, was located in an Illinois Avenue apartment and taken into custody without incident.

 Police said Smith was in Bridgeport, CT, Friday when he showed up at a relative’s residence covered in blood and confessed he had killed a homeless man with a hatchet.

Police said Smith also told the family member that after he bludgeoned the victim, he consumed pieces of the man’s brains and his eye.

Police said Smith then left Connecticut on a Greyhound Bus for Panana City, arriving here on Monday. The Marshall’s service was able to find where Smith was staying. The woman who lived in the Illinois Avenue apartment told authorities she was unaware of Smith’s actions.

The arrest was made by the U.S. Marshall’s Service North Florida Regional Tase Foce, the FBI, FDLE, Bay County Sheriff’s Office and Lynn Haven police.
